How to Grow Money Plant in Soil?

  1. Select a medium-sized pot with drainage holes at the bottom
  2. The growth of a money plant in soil in the beginning largely depends on your pot size.
  3. Fill the pot with a rich compost soil.
  4. Make a hole in the soil about 2 inch deep.
  5. Insert a node from the cut stem into the soil.
  6. Keep the soil moist after planting the cut stem.
  7. Water every alternate days to keep the soil slightly moist.
  8. One of the advantages of growing a money plant is that it does not require a lot of water,
  9. So you can water your plant thrice a week, once it starts growing.
  10. Over-watering leads to root rot and yellowing of leaves with brown tips.
  11. Because Pothos are mostly vines, insert a stick in the potting soil, so that the vines can climb.

How to Grow Money Plant in Water?

  1. Take a healthy stem from a healthy money plant of about 20 cm in length. 
  2. Make a sharp cut of about 45 degrees, just above a node.
  3. A node is a point on the plant stem from which new leaves of the money plant grow.
  4. Put the stem inside a glass jar, glass bottle, plastic bottle or a ceramic pot.
  5. Fill the jar with water such that it covers at least one node completely.
  6. The water should be clean and free from chlorine.
  7. You can use filtered water, which is chlorine and fluorine free.
  8. Keep the jar or bottle at a place where the plant can get indirect sunlight.
  9. You can keep it near a window where it gets low evening sun.
  10. New roots starts appearing at an approximate 1-2 week's time.
  11. Change water every 10 days or as soon it starts turning turbid.
  12. Refill with clean water so that the roots are completely submerged.
  13. Because they are in water, they do not need any sort of fertilizers
  14. If the growth is very slow, then a mild water soluble nitrogen fertilizer can be used.
